So some patients come into our practice that have severe wear on their teeth. Whether that is through grinding and bruxing. Whether that's through erosion. Sometimes patients have chemical wear on their teeth, and so, their teeth are ground down so much that they need to be fully restored. And these patients that have worn their teeth down so much, we're able to restore their teeth fully back to their proper contours and aesthetics. We're looking at the patient's occlusion, their bite, how their teeth come together. We're looking at factors that have caused the type of wear and destruction that occurs in their mouth, and trying to address those things so that we can give them a result that's going to be long lasting, not breaking down, and being able to protect, you know, what they've invested in. After an initial exam with a full diagnostic workup, usually a patient will need to wear some type of appliance to open up their bite. That can go on for several months to make sure that they're comfortable. That their joints are not painful. Once we have them in that appliance for several months, then we can move on to a provisional phase, where they will wear temporary teeth to make sure that they can function, and they're happy with the aesthetics. After that provisional phase, then we can take final impressions and fabricate the final restorations. Well, the fact that we have both a periodontist and prosthodontist in our office, we're able to really treat each patient comprehensively. And with Dr. Samani and myself, we are able to evaluate each patient together and bounce ideas off of each other and come up with the best solutions.
